About the book

Brynn is a young guard among the Alaha, a people exiled by the Kenta long ago. When she visits the Kenta market, she breaks a peace treaty that has held for a hundred years. She also meets an enemy soldier she ought to keep away from.

It’s a story about two peoples with a long shared past, about magic bound to metal, and about choosing between what you were raised to believe and what you can see for yourself.

The sequel is called Light Wielder.

The books in the series

  2. Light Wielder - Fire & Metal book 2 (Light Wielder, 2026)

My thoughts

I listened to it as an audiobook. I like stories where two peoples have hated each other for so long that nobody can remember why. Brynn is good at asking the questions nobody else asks.
